Share documents externally

Sometimes you need to share a project or file with an outside contact, someone who is not a part of your Hivebase account. Let's see how we can do that.

Share any project, folder, or file

You can share a full project, a folder, or an individual file.

If you want to select an arbitrary group of files and share them, you stick them into a folder first, and then you can share the folder.

Let's share a specific file, for example. Head to a project, select a folder, and a file. Now click on the Share action on the top toolbar.

This will open a slideout where you can manage sharing options.

Share with specific guest recipients

The first sharing option is adding a specific guest recipient. Click the Add button, and you will be able to provide the recipient's email, an optional note, and an optional expiration date for the share.

General access link

You can also generate a general access link which you can copy and provide to an outside guest however you want. You can set an optional expiration date on the link.

Once enabled, use the "Copy link" option to copy the general access link to your clipboard.

Accessing a share

When your guess clicks on a share link they will see a simple, public page with the file that you shared, and a button to download it.

If you share a folder or entire project, the page will look the same, except that the download button will provide a zip file with all the included files.
