Assign tags

Tags are a powerful way to label any file, folder, project, or collection in your Hivebase account. Just one more way you can easily organize your information and make it super easy to find and retrieve later.

Editing tags requires a project manager or admin role.

Tag anything

You can go to any file, folder, project, or collection and edit tags. Navigate to the item you wish to tag, and select Edit tags under the Organize menu.

This will open a window where you can edit all the tags for this item. You can have as many tags assigned as you want.

Tag suggestions

Once you have assigned a tag for the first time, it will show up as a suggestion in the future. Click in the tags field to see a full list of suggestions, and start typing to see specific matches.

Tag restrictions

Tags can only include letters, numbers, and dash or underscore characters. Tags will be converted to all lowercase when saved.

Within these restrictions, you can type whatever you want. Tags are freeform and don't need to be set up in advance.

Searching by tag

Once you have assigned tags, you can search for projects or files by tag.

You can also use the global Quicksearch at the top to find items by tag.
