Document types
Hivebase can help you organize all kinds of different types of documents. You can set up templates and custom fields for each document type. Let's see how it works.
This requires a project manager or admin role.
Manage document types and templates
Head to your account or workspace settings, and click on the Document Templates tab. Here you will see any existing document types defined, along with custom fields.
You can create as many different document types as you need.
Add a new field
Each document type can have as many custom fields as you'd like. For new fields, you'll need to specify a name, type, and a few additional options.
Field types
For each field, you need to select the data type. There are five options:
1) Text
A text field type is your most flexible. It will support any piece of text you may wish to track.
2) Integer
Integer fields are for whole numbers only. This could be useful for a revision number.
3) Decimal
This field type is for numeric values that have a decimal part.
4) Date
Date fields are for storing full dates: year, month, and day.
5) List
These are for pre-defined lists. This type is commonly used to define a list of disciplines, buildings, or work types.
Field options
There are three field options you need to consider.
1) Required
Enable this if you want to require a value for every project created in your account.
2) Allow multiple selections
This option appears if you choose the list data type for your field. When defining the possible values for your list, this option controls whether the field will be a drop-down supporting just one selection, or a list of checkboxes supporting multiple selections.
